A Non-technical Technical Description
The contraption is based on the well-known technology from the dinglehopper. A hodad causes the thingamajig to rotate when exposed to the wind and is connected to a doohickey by a widget. A oojmaflip typically controls the speed of rotation, although a whatchamahoozie is sometimes used. As the doohickey rotates, a whatchamacallit and connected whatnot produce little blips of electrical juice that pass through thingies to multicolored doodads on the rotating thingamajig. The whole shebang rotates on a widget and should be vertical for best operation. The gizmo does not require a woodle or thingo to keep it pointed into the wind, as the aerodynamic shape of the thingamajig causes the Whirlydoodle to track the wind direction.
